World Down Syndrome Day

Do Something Extra: Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21 in
Honor of Everyone with an Extra Chromosome!

World Down Syndrome Day was established in 2006 by Down Syndrome International, with the goal of raising awareness and mobilizing support and recognition of the dignity, rights and well-being of people with Down syndrome across the world. March 21, the 21st day of the third month of the year, was chosen to symbolize the third copy of chromosome 21 present in Trisomy 21, the most common form of Down syndrome. This year, World Down Syndrome Day is especially significant as it is the first time that the day will be officially observed by the United Nations.

Come celebrate World Down Syndrome day with the DSFred on Wednesday, 3-21-12, at Joe's Crab Shack located at Central Park in Fredericksburg Va.  We are planning on meeting around 7:00.  Please check the blog for any changes to the time..   Bring your families, your friends, and most importantly the star of the day, your child with DS.

We are hosting this event in the hope of bringing an awareness to our community of the joy of sharing our life with someone with Down Syndrome.

Please RSVP as we need to give the restaurant an idea of the number of people we are expecting.

Hope to see you there!
